COACHELLA 2018 ROUNDUP

April 20, 2018

After last year’s fiasco with a festival that never ended happening, this year I was lucky enough to attend Coachella for the second time.

My experience wasn’t all that different from the one in 2016, but this time the list of artists I wanted to see was way bigger and the scheduling conflicts had me pretty bummed. Since last time I had experienced weekend 2 I felt like I needed to see what weekend 1 was all about.

With Beyoncé being a headliner, I understood immediately that her show would end up being one of the biggest acts in the history of the festival, and because of that I had to sacrifice some performances that I would have loved to check out. In the end I can say it was 100% worth it though; her concert was surreal and it’s hands down the best music concert I have attended in my life.

Even though I tend to avoid this type of events (I’m not a fan of being in a hurry, staying long hours outdoors in the sun and being in the same place with literally hundreds of thousands of people), Coachella is definitely in a whole different category and it’s worth every single minute you spend on the grounds. I’ve been asked before how many times do I plan to attend the festival and I’m not really sure I have an answer. The best one I can give right now is that given the opportunity, I will do it all over again as many times as I’m able to.

For now, I leave you with the recap of the bands I saw and the clothes I wore. I shared a ton of Instagram Stories with more moments from the weekend. I hope you enjoy them!

MARFA ROAD TRIP

December 6, 2017
Marfa

A couple weeks ago, and after a few years of wanting to visit, I finally had the chance to travel to Marfa, Texas. The truth is that Marfa is a place that’s very underestimated by many and terrible overestimated by others. This time, instead of writing a full travel guide this is just a recap of my weekend road trip; if you want to learn more about the logistics I recommend checking a few guides (Vogue and Ballroom Marfa have two of the most comprehensive ones) and check in with the locals; at the end of the day most of them have the same tips and recommendations because to be honest, there’s only so much a 1.6 square mile town can offer.

LEOTONY EYEWEAR: AFFORDABLE & STYLISH FRAMES

November 20, 2017
leotony eyewear

I’ve been wearing glasses since I was ten years old. Frames can be very inconvenient in certain situations and I’ve thought about getting surgery a couple times, but the truth is that I like the way I look when I wear them. During these years (almost two decades!) I’ve worn *a lot* of pairs, and made my parents spend a ton of money (I’m looking at you, old pair of Pradas that cost a fortune).

music monday

Another month is gone and a new playlist is up. Sam Smith is finally back, LÉON is unstoppable and more exciting music is coming soon. October is one of my favorite months of the year and it promises to bring a few surprises, but until now… enjoy the new mix!

Until next time,

Nuevo mes, nueva playlist.

MUSIC MONDAY: AUGUST 2017

September 5, 2017
music monday

We’re slowly approaching release dates for some of the most expected albums in the year and I can’t wait to enjoy all the new music. August was actually pretty lukewarm in terms of new music, but it still gave me a few surprises courtesy of LÉON’s Body (yes, here I am talking about LÉON again), Fifth Harmony’s Make You Mad (actually the whole new album is really great, Camila who?) and finally Daniela Spalla’s Estábamos Tan Bien, which I’ve been listening on repeat these past few days.

Hope you enjoy the new mix.

Until next time,

-SGS

CUBA TRAVEL GUIDE: PART 2

August 14, 2017
cuba

It’s been a while since I published part one of my Cuba travel guide, but I’ve finally come around to publishing part two.

On my previous blog post I talked a bit about the basics of planning a trip to Cuba: where to stay, what to do, how to handle the money, etc. This time I’ll focus on talking a bit about the weather you can expect there and what I wore during my stay in Havana.

MUSIC MONDAY: JULY 2017

August 7, 2017
music monday

Hi all!

Things have been pretty hectic lately. Lots of traveling and projects and work and life, so I guess I can’t complain that much. Here’s my latest monthly compilation of stuff I listened in July. If you recall correctly I mentioned that there would be no June playlist because there was no point in pretending I wasn’t going to listen to Melodrama on repeat (spoiler: I did) but this one is quite special as well because there’s more new stuff from artists I really love. The highlight of the list comes once again courtesy of LÉON, which is the best thing that’s happened to me in 2017 (musically speaking).

Enjoy the playlist!

Until next time,

-SGS

Hola!

-SGS

MUSIC MONDAY: MAY 2017

June 19, 2017
music monday

The tracklist for this month turned out pretty pop-ish, but that’s ok. Kehlani’s In My Feelings and Cashmere Cat’s Quit were in very heavy rotation. To be honest this playlist feels quite distant, there’s a ton of music coming out from my favorite artists and it’s hard to keep track, but that’s a good thing! Let me know what you think about this one and probably take it for a spin the next time you go driving somewhere?

Enjoy the playlist!

Until next time,

-SGS

STYLE

KIT CULTURE: CASUAL WEAR FOR ACTIVE GUYS

June 5, 2017

After my Fyre Festival trip fiasco I’ve been keeping myself busy getting everything ready for my next destination: Cuba. I still have a little more outfit planning to do, but before I tell you everything about my adventures in the Caribbean today I want to tell you about Kit Culture, a lifestyle menswear brand that focuses on creating casual wear pieces for those guys who favor a more active lifestyle.

Now, you might be wondering what I mean by “active casual wear”; since it’s all about the athleisure rave these days, Kit Culture is trying to give their own spin to the trend by making clothes that feel comfortable enough to perform physical activities while looking polished at the same time. In these photos I’m wearing their Influencer Stretch Twill Pants and Seven-Day Long Sleeve T-Shirt. For the pants, which were my favorite piece from them, their approach differs in that they were not trying to make a pair of track pants that look decent enough to wear to the office, but instead I would describe them as a pair of chinos that is stretchy and comfortable enough to go around your whole day and switch from work to commute to a social gathering while still looking put together. Their products have a slim and modern fit that hit the perfect balance between casualness and freedom of movement.

If you’re willing to give Kit Culture a try I’d recommend going for a pair of their Stretch Pants to check what their whole vibe is about. As for me, I’m lucky enough to being able to wear whatever I want to the office, but I’m specially excited to give Kit Culture’s apparel a go in my upcoming trips; as most of you might too, I prefer to travel with comfy clothes that will give a little more freedom during flights, so you can be sure that I’ll be rocking these pants during my next visit to the airport. I’ll be my usual comfy self but will look a little more grown up, which is really never a bad thing, right?

Until next time,

-SGS

-SGS
